About
Charles Beddingfield

Charles Beddingfield is a British writer of mystery and suspense fiction, often with a hint of romance and a nautical flavour or setting. He came to writing by a wayward path having enjoyed an idyllic childhood of green fields, outdoor play, haymaking and pet Labradors until forced by law to attend school, where he resented every moment of his captivity. At the first opportunity he escaped education to build an independent high-street business, which he later sold to a national chain so that he could go sailing for a few years instead.

At school, Charles' English master Mr Jones evidently saw some promise in his ungrateful wretch of a pupil, and in due course Charles began writing fiction, learning the craft and creating the characters that now appear in his JUST ONE MISTAKE series of mystery and romantic suspense novels.  Finding that he enjoys writing (and properly grateful at last to Mr Jones) Charles now endeavours to spend the winter at his word processor and the summer at play, usually afloat in one form or another,
though with less youth and greater wisdom he now refuses to go to sea in any boat that lacks a decent wheelhouse.

Charles works part time for filthy lucre, builds boats for personal fulfilment, writes fiction as a pension plan and continues to sail for pleasure. He is notoriously camera shy, which is why the inadequate picture on the left, showing Charles in the galley of his yacht is the best available image of him.
